On 19 September 2015, the Royal Thai Consulate-General, the Thai Community and the Canadian International Education Assistance Foundation (CIEAF) jointly organized “Helping Children to Paint Their Dreams” fundraising gala dinner at Fairmont Waterfront Hotel in Vancouver. The event was co-hosted by Mrs. Sutthiluck Sa-ngarmangkang, Consul-General of Thailand to Vancouver, and Ms. Angela Chow, representative of Mr. Tom Mah, President of CIEAF. The purpose of this fundraising event was to assist children’s education development at Baan Mae Ramoeng School, Tha Song Yang District, Tak Province, which was a school under the Royal Initiated Project of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, in commemoration of the auspicious occasion of Her Royal Highness’ 5th Cycle Birthday Anniversary 2 April 2015.
This charity event was highly successful with more than 200 participants comprising representatives from the Government of Canada and the Government of British Columbia, well-known businessmen, foreign consuls-general and honorary consuls-general in Vancouver, leaders and members of Thai Community as well as friends of Thailand in Western Canada. H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Ambassador of Thailand to Canada, also flew from Ottawa to participate in this event.
Activities during the gala included Thai traditional and musical performances from Kallasin College of Dramatic Arts, performances by Thai Community’s choir group, “the Sound of Thailand,” fashion show of Thai fabrics, contributed by Thai donors, designed and made by the Art Institute of Vancouver (Ai), fashion show of Thai national costumes by Thai Community, silent auctions of Thai and foreign products, and donation.
The raised fund will be used for the construction of a dormitory and the purchase of vocational training materials and equipment to enhance education development and job opportunities for students at Baan Mae Ramoeng School.
