On 20 August 2015, Royal Thai Consulate-General in Vancouver organized Thailand Corner at Calgary Public Library, Alberta. It was the 5th Thailand Corner organized in Western Canada this year. Activities at the opening ceremony comprises of exhibition to commemorate the 5th Cycle Birthday Anniversary of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, display of Thai handicrafts and English books on Thailand, Q&A session about Thailand, Thai movie screening, and reception to promote Thai food and beverage.
During the opening ceremony, Ms. Sutthiluck Sa-ngarmangkang, Consul-General of Thailand to Vancouver gave welcoming remarks to participants of the event including leading members of the library, representatives from the public sector, Canadian educators, members of Thai community in Calgary, foreigners and users of Calgary Public Library. On this occasion, the Consul-General, Ms. Janet Hutchinson, Library Board Chair, and Mr. Bill Ptazek, CEO of Calgary Public Library jointly cut the ribbon to officially open the Thailand Corner. It was followed by the books presentation ceremony from the Consul-General to Ms. Hutchinson, who represented the Calgary Public Library.
The organization of Thailand Corner at Calgary Public Library received a warm welcome and was overwhelmingly interested by both Canadian and foreign public in Calgary and nearby cities.
