The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Vancouver, led by Ms. Sutthiluck Sa-ngarmangkang, Consul-General, welcomed the Thai delegation to the 24th Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF) being held in Vancouver between 17-21 January 2016. The Thai delegation is led by the Honorable Police General Chatchawal Suksomjit and composed of Members of the National Legislative Assembly, an advisor and officials from the National Assembly of Thailand, with His Excellency Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Ambassador of Thailand to Canada, as the advisor to the delegation.
Founded in 1993, APPF aims to provide opportunities for national parliamentarians of the Asia-Pacific region to identify and discuss matters of common concern and interest. The theme of this year’s APPF meeting is “Strengthened Partnerships for Prosperity, Security and Growth. It is divided into 3 sessions, namely regional peace and security, economic and trade matters, and regional cooperation.
Currently, APPF has 27 member countries throughout out the Asia-Pacific region. This year is the second time that Canada hosts the meeting after its first time in 1997 right after Thailand. The host of the 25th Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum next year is Fiji.
