On 4 December 2017, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Vancouver organized a reception on the occasion of the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand, the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, and Thailand’s Father’s Day at the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel, Vancouver. The opening ceremony was presided by Mr. Narat Vidyananda, Acting Consul-General. On this occasion, Honorable Bruce Ralston, Minister of Jobs, Trade and Technology, guest of honour, and Mr. Chak Au, Acting Mayor of Richmond, delivered congratulatory speeches and expressed the determination and readiness to further enhance cordial ties and cooperation with Thailand in all fields, particularly on the sustainable development and “Thailand 4.0” policies. This event was well attended by more than 250 dignitaries from the public, private and education sectors of British Columbia as well as consuls-general and members of the consular corps in Vancouver.
Among numerous activities organized during this occasion were exhibitions on “Sufficiency Economy Philosophy,” initiated by His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, and the importance of “World Soil Day,” video presentation on Thailand’s economic potentials, as well as performances of Thai choir, Thai classical dances and Thai musical ensemble by members of Thai community in Vancouver and nearby cities.
