On 18 November 2018, Mr. Nontawat Chandrtri, Consul-General of Thailand to Vancouver and Ms. Pottanee Homjitt, Consul, attended the Royal Kathina Offering Ceremony at Ratchadham Viriyaram Buddhist Temple 3 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
The Royal Kathina was graciously bestowed by His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun through Ms. Pakawadee (Malakul) Kanpai to the congregation of monks at Ratchadham Viriyaram Buddhist Temple 3, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Phra Dhammongkolyarn (Luangphor Viriyang Sirintharo), Lord Abbot of Wat Dhammamongkol Temple in Bangkok, Patriarch of the Dhammayuttika Order in Canada and Master Teacher of Willpower Institute, presided over the Buddhist ceremony.
This auspicious ceremony was well attended by many participants comprising of members of Thai community in Edmonton and nearby cities, devotees travelling from different parts of Canada as well as Los Angeles and Thailand. On this occasion, the participants also took part in the Loy Krathong ceremony organized by the Thai community to promote Thai culture and tradition in Alberta.
