On the 16th July 2019, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Vancouver organized the annual “Thai Cuisine in the Garden” event at the residence of the Consul-General. Mr. Nontawat Chandrtri, Consul General of Thailand to Vancouver, presided over the opening. The event was well attended by more than 100 participants, including Mr. Michael Lee, MLA Vancouver-Langara, members of consular corps and representatives from Canadian private and public sectors and friends of Thailand.
Experts from Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon (RMUTP) demonstrated the preparation of Choo-Chie Prawns (prawns in red curry sauce) and Bua Loy Puak (taro dumplings in sweet coconut milk), as well as the intricate Thai art of fruit and vegetable carving. In addition, performers from Pattayakul Thai Music and Drama school performed traditional Thai dancing and Khon, the delicate masked dance drama.
Thai Cuisine in the Garden is one of the Royal Thai Consulate-General’s highlight activities this year, to promote cultural diversity, Thai cuisine and friendship in Vancouver and Western Canada.
