*** The Thailand Special Tourist Visa (STV) holders can enter Thailand starting on October 1, 2020 until September 30, 2021 ***

Eligible Applicants for STV:
This type of visa is issued to eligible applicants who are Canadian Nationals or Citizens or Permanent Residents (PR) currently residing in Canada and their spouse, child or children (age under 20 years old) for the sole purpose of tourism only.

Proof of relationship (for dependent of the main applicant):
For the spouse: Marriage certificate
For the child/children whose age under 20 years old: Birth certificate

STEP 1: Requirements:

  1. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 12 months.
  2. Visa application form completely filled out for each passport
  3. One recent official passport photograph of the applicant taken within 6 months
  4. Proof of adequate finance for the duration of stay in Thailand – copy of recent bank statement or letter from the bank showing 20,000 Baht per person in the bank account. In case of submitting a family bank statement, proof of relationship (i.e. birth certificate, marriage certificate) must be provided
  5. Proof of long-term accommodation after the 14-day quarantine. The applicant is required to provide one of the following evidence of payment which could be any of the following:
    1. Proof of payment paid in full until departure date for hotel or accommodation to be used after discharge from quarantine and hotel’s contact details and tax ID number
    2. Copy of a condominium title deed owned by the visitor or a family member
    3. A fully paid residential lease in Thailand issued by the lessor showing the duration of stay, and the lessor’s contact details and tax ID number
    4. Evidence of payment for the purchase or lease of a condominium-type residence that foreigners can legally buy or lease
  6. A criminal record check indicating that the applicant has no criminal record in the country of his/her nationality or residence (this document must be valid for no more than 3 months).
  7. Proof of medical and travel insurance policy
    1. For In-patient: health insurance policy must have coverage at least 400,000 Thai Baht per policy year
    2. For Out-patient: health insurance policy must have coverage at least 40,000 Thai Baht per policy year
    3. Letter from health insurance which covers COVID related medical treatment and coverage of no less than 100,000 USD, must cover at least 90 days. In case that the applicant intends to stay in the Kingdom for more than one year, the health insurance should cover at least the period of one year. https://covid19.tgia.org/

Payment: Fee $130.00 CAD

Visas by mail: Royal Thai Consulate General is not responsible for any loss or damage to your passport and documents due to mishandling by mail services. If you are sending your application by mail, please send along with a prepaid Xpresspost, Priority Post envelope or pre-paid Courier. Please do not send in your application through regular mail.

Validity: The visa holder will be allowed to stay in the country for 90 days. This visa is ending on September 30, 2021.

Upon Arrival in Thailand:
Upon arriving in Thailand, visitors must undergo health screening from the Ministry of Public Health. The STV holder will be issued a permit to stay for 90 days in Thailand if the tourists pass all screening measures. They will immediately depart the airport to begin the strict state quarantine at their paid ASQ/ALSQ (www.hsscovid.com).
Once they are tested negative for Covid-19 after the 14-day quarantine, long-stay tourists will have the freedom to travel as they please around the country with a mobile application that will track their destination.

Remarks:

  • The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Vancouver reserve the right to request additional documents as deemed necessary as well as reject any application without prejudice
  • The applicants must provide genuine documents and information. If the applicants are found to provide false documents or give false information, their applications will be rejected and be reported for further determination of appropriate action and future prohibition to enter the Kingdom of Thailand
  • Visa processing time may vary depending on the demand. Applicants are advised to submit the applications with no less than 15 days prior to the intended departure date
  • Upon entering into the Kingdom of Thailand, all visitors are required to undergo 14-day Alternative State Quarantine (ASQ). For more information, please visit http://hsscovid.com/

STEP 2: CERTIFICATE OF ENTRY (COE)

Please prepare documents below to apply for COE online at: coethailand.mfa.go.th

  1. Copy of passport page
  2. A copy of your Thai visa (if already expired, you have to apply for a new one)
  3. Letter from health insurance which covers the whole period of stay in Thailand.
    1. For In-patient: health insurance policy must have coverage at least 400,000 Thai Baht per policy year
    2. For Out-patient: health insurance policy must have coverage at least 40,000 Thai Baht per policy year
    3. Letter from health insurance which covers COVID related medical treatment and coverage of no less than 100,000 USD, covering the whole intended period of stay. In case that the applicant intends to stay in the Kingdom for more than one year, the health insurance should cover at least the period of one year. https://covid19.tgia.org/
  4. A copy of a hotel booking for Alternative State Quarantine (ASQ) at one of the hotels approved by the Thai authorities (www.hsscovid.com)
  5. Flight ticket

What you need to present at airlines check-in counter and upon arrival in Thailand:

  • The Certificate of Entry (COE)
  • Medical certificate with a laboratory result using RT-PCR test indicating that COVID -19 is not detected. Such COVID-19 test result must be issued no more than 72 hours before departure
  • Copy of your insurance policy which covers COVID and no less than 100,000 USD
  • Copy of your confirmed booking at an ASQ or ALQ hotel
  • T8 Form
