Between 17 July – 3 August 2015, Royal Thai Consulate-General in Vancouver organized Thailand Corner at Vancouver Public Library, British Columbia. It was the 4th Thailand Corner organized in Western Canada this year. Activities at the opening ceremony comprises of exhibition to commemorate the 5th Cycle Birthday Anniversary of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, performance of Thai classical dance, display of Thai handicrafts and English books on Thailand, Q&A session about Thailand, and reception to promote Thai food and beverage.
During the opening ceremony on 17 August 2015, Ms. Sutthiluck Sa-ngarmangkang, Consul-General of Thailand to Vancouver gave welcoming remarks to participants of the event including local politicians, representatives from the public sector, Canadian educators, foreigners and users of Vancouver Public Library. On this occasion, the Consul-General, Ms. Melissa De Genova, City Councillor of Vancouver and representative of Mayer of Vancouver, and Ms. Mary Lynn Baum, Chair of Vancouver Public Library jointly cut the ribbon to officially open the Thailand Corner. It was followed by the books presentation ceremony from the Consul-General to Ms. Baum, who represented the Vancouver Public Library.
The organization of Thailand Corner at Vancouver Public Library received a warm welcome and was overwhelmingly interested by both Canadian and foreign public in Vancouver.
