On 12 May 2016, Mrs. Sutthiluck Sa-ngarmangkang, accompanied by Mr. Narat Vidayananda, Consul, visited members of Thai Community from Fort McMurray, who fled the forest fire and sought temporary stay in Calgary, Alberta. The purpose of this visit was to follow up on the Thai evacuees’ well-being, their living condition, as well as to find further ways and means to assist them.
The visit was welcomed and well received. All the Thai evacuees were safe and in good spirit. The Consul-General assured them of the readiness of the Government of Thailand to assist them through all means necessary and informed them about the various types of assistance available from the Government of Canada, the Government of Alberta, and the Canadian Red Cross. The Consul-General also expressed her appreciation to members of the Thai Community in Calgary who worked closely with the Consulate-General in providing necessary care and assistance to the Thai evacuees from Fort McMurray.
On this occasion, the Consul-General also hosted lunch and provided dried food and snacks from Thailand to support the Thai evacuees.
