On 2 April 2016, Thai community and the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Vancouver, led by Ms. Sutthiluck Sa-ngarmangkang, Consul-General, attended a concert performed by Mr. Ekachai Jearakul, a famous Thai classical guitarist, at Pyatt Hall, VSO School of Music in Vancouver, British Columbia. During the concert, Mr. Jearakul presented the audience with well-known classical songs composed by various popular international artists. On this occasion, Mr. Jearakul also showcased a special selection of songs composed by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand including “Love Light in My Heart,” “Magic Beams,” and “Falling Rain.” Mr. Jearakul’s musical talent was highly praised and appreciated by all participants. To welcome and congratulate Mr. Jearakul, the Consul-General also hosted dinner in his honour on 3 April 2016.
Mr. Jearakul is considered one of today’s most outstanding classical guitarists on the international scene. In 2014, Mr. Jearakul became the first Asian guitarist to win the Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artist Competition. As the winner of this prestigious guitar competition, Mr. Jearakul is entitled to a fifty-concert tour in North and South America.
After Vancouver, his next concert tour will be at the Muttart Hall – Alberta College in Edmonton, Alberta (www.edmontonclassicalguitarsociety.org) on 8 April 2016 and at the Knox Presbyterian Church in Calgary, Alberta (www.classicalguitarsocietyofcalgary.com/concert-season-meetings) on 9 April 2016.
Mr. Jearakul has won 12 first prizes on international guitar competitions in Europe, Asia and North America and has performed concerts in over 16 countries worldwide.
