Between 22-28 August 2015, Royal Thai Consulate-General in Vancouver organized Thailand Corner at Edmonton Public Library, Alberta. It was the 6th Thailand Corner organized in Western Canada this year. Activities at the opening ceremony comprises of exhibition to commemorate the 5th Cycle Birthday Anniversary of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, display of Thai handicrafts and English books on Thailand, Q&A session about Thailand, VCDs screening on tourism in Thailand and the demonstration of Thai dessert preparation, as well as reception to promote Thai food and beverage.
During the opening ceremony, Ms. Sutthiluck Sa-ngarmangkang, Consul-General of Thailand to Vancouver gave welcoming remarks to participants of the event including representatives from public and private sectors, honorary consul-general of Thailand and foreign countries in Edmonton, leading members of the library, Canadian educators, members of Thai community in Edmonton, foreigners and users of Edmonton Public Library. On this occasion, the Consul-General, Mr. Scott McKeen, Councillor of Edmonton, Mr. Richard Thornley, Manager of Edmonton Public Library, and Mr. Dennis Anderson, Honorary-Consul of Thailand to Edmonton jointly cut the ribbon to officially open the Thailand Corner. It was followed by the books presentation ceremony from the Consul-General to Mr. Thornley, who represented the Edmonton Public Library.
The organization of Thailand Corner at Edmonton Public Library received a warm welcome and was overwhelmingly interested by both Canadian and foreign public in Edmonton and nearby cities.
